Hey dear friends. I’m doing an ”official” soft launch of my Colliding Vinyl store on Etsy this weekend.
https://www.etsy.com/shop/collidingvinyl
It’s got 11 custom pieces for you to peek at (with historical info about the records) – including 8 new card/letter/napkin holders built with selected 45 rpm singles. It’s been fun making individualized clocks for family and friends, and now I’d like to broaden it out to a wider audience, offering pre-made or made-to-order pieces. In the process, I’ll flex some social media marketing/automation muscles.

If you get a chance, please check out my Etsy store here to see all my listings. Classics from the 50s and 60s etc. Comments and suggestions welcome.

Unique gift for the Beatles connoisseur. This clock features the first/early solo works of John, Paul, George and Ringo, on Apple Records. Surrounding Paul McCartney’s first solo LP (Side One with “Maybe I’m Amazed” showing), there are original-release 45rpm singles of:

  • John Lennon’s “Imagine”
  • George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord
  • Beatles “Let it Be” (their last major single). The song is about Paul’s mum, who died when he was a teen-ager, but it’s also a kind of epitaph as they broke up the band.

Also:

  • Ringo’s first single Beaucoups of Blues (rare 7”33 1/3 rpm release)

For added dimension, I put hand-cut tiered slices of 45rpm records as ascents on many of my clocks, and you’ll see them on this one in the photo.\

Colliding Vinyl Timepieces are one-of-a-kind clock creations paying tribute to music artists, music styles/eras and record labels … via a collaged display of their actual records. To purchase, contact me at collidingvinyl@gmail.com.

Latest clock is custom for OverTones friend and wonderful photographer Cass Summer. She wanted all California, so the Doors first album anchors it, with Beach Boys and others weighing in around the periphery. And “A Summer Song.” And I’m enjoying the beautiful “mystery meadow” scene in an enlargement from Cass’s work.

So I was “commissioned” to make a companion Colliding Vinyl clock to the Barry Manilow one (third photo) I made a year a half ago; it had ended up staring at people while they used the toilet in their Santa Barbara bathroom, and she wanted the same vibe for a bathroom in their other home (blended family). So this has Barry saying he “came in through the bathroom window.”  Floating on a Grunt Records release, what else?

BONUS QUESTION: Can anybody identify who the singer of this version was (per the LP fragment – see the close-up?IMG_3703   IMG_3699

Finally finished this Colliding Vinyl clock.  Naming it either “Earth Sound”  or “Time is running out” (the more pessimistic environmental statement).   Hope you can read the record titles.   Lots of orange and brown hues.
